FASHION: CHANGING THE 'RULES'

When it comes to golf garb these days, you can stick with tradition or throw out the ‘old’ rules for a stylish new you.

From left: She dons separates and matching straw hat from EP Pro’s Sanibel collection. The fine-gauge, baby-cable cardigan repeats the ice-blue color of the short-sleeve mock turtleneck. The shorts are a navy floral print of the latest textured microfiber.

He sports the latest from the Tommy Hilfiger golf collection. The dominant vertical pinstripe, piqué polo is paired with cotton golf shorts and matching cap, and accented with a belt by Martin Dingman.

Her game excels with Cutter & Buck. The navy resort stripe tee tucks neatly under a white challenger wind vest. Her solid shorts beautifully blend rayon and polyester, and are completed with a belt by Brighton Accessories.

He must be a betting man since he’s chosen Tommy Bahama’s “Titanic Thompson” cargo shorts in a solid tencel-and-cotton canvas khaki. His solid off-white short-sleeve shirt is made of Roma silk and accented with a button-loop pajama collar and pocket.

For her: These 100 percent cotton microfiber shorts in gold from Tail’s Navy and Gold Spring 2000 collection are perfect for the practice green. Wear with this zip vest in a gold-and-navy check plaid and add a short-sleeve knit tee, tipped in gold. This golf outfit says tradition at its best, and is resistant to the travails of wear-and-wash.

For him: From Ashworth comes these durable classic navy waffle-weave blended shorts of rayon and polyester for a cool, confident look on the greens. Complete with a vertical piqué-stitched traditional polo and a classic, cotton-and-nylon variegated rack-stitch sweater vest.

For her: You’re definitely changing some rules with this 100 percent, silk canvas Cairo Camp shirt in “catnip” from Tommy Bahama. It has a stylish short sleeve and a fitted pajama collar. Match with these herringbone Casino deck shorts featuring a double reverse pleat. Top with an Alexandra crushable hat by Maurizio Spataro Italy, and accent with this belt from Brighton Accessories.

For him: Feel Italian and just say “ciao” in this beautiful blend of neutral tones. From Equilibrio comes this short-sleeve woven shirt in 100 percent cupro (rayon). The microfiber pincord khaki dress pants from Sport-Haley are so versatile they can effortlessly take you through a summer’s day. Accessorize with a Martin Dingman hand-woven cognac belt.

For her: Sport-Haley captures the conservative yet hip golfer with this monochromatic ensemble. The crewneck eggshell tee in 100 percent cotton matches the microfiber shorts with a Hollywood waist. The black front-zip cotton cashmere vest features a cream trim to match the tee and shorts.

For him: From Descente comes his blended pants, paired with a black popcorn long-sleeve polo sweater made of silk, cotton, and rayon. The mix of tencel and polyester gives these distinctive golf pants a look that is classy yet functional — less prone to wrinkle and travels nicely. When time is of the essence, this outfit can carry the golfer right into dinner for the evening. Add sophistication with the Martin Dingman black crocodile belt.

For her: A fun, yet traditional, ensemble from Line-Up for Sport’s Pin Daisy collection in black and butter. The black microfiber shorts coordinate with the butter long-sleeve cotton cardigan, featuring an elegant, golf-motif pin daisy detailing on the sleeve. Complete with the 100 percent cotton, white polo with pin daisy treatment from Line-Up for Sports, and complement with this purse and belt from Brighton Accessories.

For him: Got a game of client golf? Rely on this Cutter & Buck collection that includes navy microfiber shorts made of 70 percent rayon and 30 percent polyester. The 100 percent cotton cream cable vest comfortably pulls over the oxford twill piqué polo.
