PRESIDENT’S LETTER
Dear Members and Guests,
As the holiday season approaches, I want to thank you for
celebrating your "Magic Moments" with us throughout the year. I’d also like
to recognize the often behind-the-scenes work of the private event directors
at our clubs and resorts worldwide. These are the staff members responsible
for planning and coordinating your holiday parties and other special
occasions such as weddings, receptions, civic gatherings, business retreats,
and golf tournaments. They have big jobs. In the year 2000 alone, there were
167,245 private events held at ClubCorp clubs in the United States.
Literally thousands more private functions were held at our international
clubs and resorts, where hayrides, bonfires, breakfast trail rides, deep-sea
fishing, golf, and more, can turn your special event into a lifelong memory.
And, while I don’t often play favorites, I would award a "Kodak Moment"
trophy to The Homestead’s outdoor gazebo as a truly spectacular wedding
venue.
Earlier this year, more than 140 private event directors
gathered for their first-ever, companywide meeting in order to gear up to
make your holiday events the best ever. They talked about the latest trends
in catering and discussed the private event director’s role in membership.
Other activities included team-building exercises and lectures on topics
such as food and wine pairings. The purpose of the event was to ensure that
private event directors had their game plans in place to continue to exceed
your expectations.
Another goal at ClubCorp is for every non-member Guest
attending these private events to experience, firsthand, the value of
belonging to a ClubCorp private club or resort.
Of course, we know that, while the private event director
plans the private event, the entire staff makes an event successful. So I’d
also like to take this year-end opportunity to thank each of our Employee
Partners for creating a Pride in Belonging atmosphere and Magic Moments for
all our Members and Guests. A New Year’s resolution I make every year is to
create an experience so welcoming, so exceptional, and so memorable that,
whether you are a Member or a Guest, you’ll keep wanting to return.
Best wishes,
Robert H. Dedman Jr.
President and Chief Executive Officer
