More Room at The Homestead
The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia, has opened a 20,000-square-foot ballroom and meeting facility, representing one of the most significant additions to the property in The Homestead’s 235-year history. The expansion, which brings the total amount of meeting space at the resort to 72,000 square feet, features the architectural detail of The Homestead’s original Georgian design, including classic columns and traditional wood paneling and flooring. The 14,000-square-foot ballroom includes a large reception area and an outdoor terrace.


Spa Grand Opening at Pinehurst
The Spa at Pinehurst, in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina, a new 31,000-square-foot facility, is set to open in late March, and will offer such amenities as massage/body treatments, hydrotherapy, a salon, and a fitness center. Star Treatment

A LEGACY FOR THE ADOPTED
When Wendy’s restaurant founder Dave Thomas, the well-known face behind the fast-food chain and a member of Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, died at age 69 in early January, he left behind a legacy of advocacy for the cause of adoption. Thomas, himself adopted when he was six weeks old, established the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992 to raise awareness for the 134,000 foster children available for adoption, and to help make adoption easier and more affordable. Donations in his memory may be sent to the foundation at P.O. Box 7164, Dublin, OH 43017.
