PRESIDENT’S LETTER Dear Members, Whenever ClubCorp builds or acquires a new club, one of the first and most important activities is the formation of a Board of Governors. It’s as foundational to the “spirit of community” as the bricks and mortar are to the facility. Boards of Governors play significant roles at clubs. Boards not only set the tone for policies, committees, and activities, but also they ignite energy and enthusiasm among other Members and Employee Partners. That energy and enthusiasm — key ingredients for Pride in Belonging — also help to attract and retain new Members and Employee Partners. By the time you read this, ClubCorp will have begun a series of videoconference meetings involving Members of the Boards of Governors at various clubs. The sessions are part of a plan to increase our interaction with Members and to enhance the value propositions at clubs as well as to connect these leaders with each other. The initial meetings already have shown results in club-to-club dynamics and a sharing of influence. Not to mention that we might have sparked a couple of new business associations and more than a few new friendships. It has long made sense to connect these leaders just as Members connect with each other within their home clubs. Now we have the enabling technology to assist these business and community leaders to leverage and expand the scope of their influence. As we aggregate these resources and these spheres of influence, we can avail the entire Associate Club network of the resulting “best practices.” The videoconferences also will allow the senior leadership of ClubCorp to interface directly with leaders at the clubs, and I personally am committed to participating in these ongoing dialogues. We believe we have a responsibility to enrich the quality of Members’ lives. That not only means connecting business and community leaders, but also helping Members achieve professional success, enhance their personal and family fulfillment, and improve our communities. I believe that’s a vision we can make a reality for all of our partners. Robert H. Dedman Jr. |
