CELEBRITY CHEFS TO COOK AT ASSOCIATE CLUBS
ClubCorp and the James Beard Foundation have teamed to bring celebrity chefs into Associate Club kitchens to prepare a dinner and meet with members. The celebrity chefs will plan each menu, work with the club’s executive chef to make the dinner, and then spend time with members as they enjoy the meal. Proceeds from the dinners will benefit the James Beard Foundation’s culinary arts education program. Celebrity chefs will appear at the following clubs throughout 2004: Pyramid Club in Philadelphia (June 19), City Club on Bunker Hill in Los Angeles (July 31), Columbia Tower Club in Seattle (Sept. 17), Boston College Club (Oct. 1), Stonebriar Country Club near Dallas (Oct. 8), Center Club in Costa Mesa, California (Oct. 16), University Club of Houston (Oct. 23), the Buckhead Club in Atlanta (Nov. 13), and Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas (Feb. 5).

CHAMPIONS TOUR KINKO’S CLASSIC AT THE HILLS
The Champions Tour Kinko’s Classic of Austin will be held at The Hills Country Club in the Village of the Hills, Texas, May 6-9. Last year’s champion, Hale Irwin, will again compete for the $1.6 million purse. Proceeds totaling $100,000 from the 2003 tournament were donated to numerous local charities, including the First Tee of Greater Austin and Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. PLAY BOTH OF BEAR’S BEST
The second annual Pair of Jack’s Open will be held Oct. 23-25 at Bear’s Best Atlanta and Bear’s Best Las Vegas. This unique event allows Associate members to play both of the Bear’s Best courses in two days. Play will begin in Atlanta on Oct. 23, and then the golfers will be flown on a private airplane to Las Vegas, where they will spend the night at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and play the Las Vegas course on Oct. 24. An awards ceremony will follow the day’s round and the golfers will have a night to enjoy Las Vegas before returning to Atlanta on Oct. 25. The deadline to sign up is May 15. ASSOCIATE CLUB RENOVATION UPDATES
• Clubhouse renovations recently were completed at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The interior carpeting, wall coverings, and wood paneling were replaced throughout the main floor of the clubhouse. The entryway was reconfigured and new floor tiles were laid. Additionally, interior doorways were converted into archways, new window treatments were hung, and the artwork throughout the club was reframed. The grill area also was renovated and upgraded, including changes such as new carpeting, a new ceiling, and the addition of three large-screen plasma televisions.

• A 3,000-square-foot bar and grill area recently was added to the clubhouse at Woodside Plantation Country Club in Aiken, South Carolina. The bar area overlooks the ninth and 18th greens, has six televisions, and can seat 76 people, including 16 at the bar. New restrooms also were added.

• Renovations are underway on the clubhouse and golf course at Ipswich Country Club near Boston. The $3.1 million project will include redecorating the clubhouse interior, reconstructing the 53 bunkers on the golf course, upgrading the driving range facilities, and building additional shade structures at the swim and tennis facility. The renovations are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2006.
