SHOULDER TURN
TURN YOUR GAME AROUND
Would you like to hit your groundstrokes like a pro? Well, you can. OK, maybe not exactly, but you can share a very important movement that is evident in their groundstrokes — the shoulder turn.

Each initial step to the ball should begin with a shoulder turn.

The preparation also starts with the same shoulder turn.

In order to hit through the ball and finish the stroke, you must turn/ uncoil your shoulders.

JUST THE OPPOSITE
USE YOUR ‘OTHER’ ARM FOR DIRECTION, ACCELERATION
If you would like to increase power and direction, take a look at what your opposite arm is doing.

Many players use their opposite arm for direction. Let’s say that you are a right-hander. Your left arm will come across your body before impact, and will rotate out with your shoulders. When your left hand points to the desired target, it should come in toward the shoulder to stop rotation. Your hitting arm should extend out toward the designated area.

As you bring your opposite arm toward your body just before impact, your hitting arm will get an extra burst of speed as you rotate through the tennis ball. This technique is similar to what occurs when the opposite arm comes into the body while serving.

At Crow Canyon we say: "Bring in the arm and release the hounds."
