CLUBCORP NEWS
• ClubCorp has reached an agreement with developer KSI Services Inc. to
manage Harbor Station Golf Club, scheduled to open in 2007. The club
is under construction in Dumfries, Virginia, about 40 miles south of
Washington, D.C. The club will include a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse, a
Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, and a 15,000-square-foot sports club.
The sports club will feature indoor and outdoor pools, yoga studio, tennis
courts, cardio and circuit training, and juice bar. Casual and formal
dining, a pro shop, and banquet facilities also will be available.
• ClubCorp recently donated $19,500 to the United Service Organizations (USO),
a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to the military
and their families. The funds represented proceeds from the 14th annual
Lobster Feast held at more than 160 clubs, which donated $3 from the cost of
each meal. Since its inception in 1992, Lobster Feast has raised more than
$180,000 for various charities.
RENOVATIONS
• Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, has
opened a $4 million, 17,000-square-foot spa and sports center, which
includes massage and treatment rooms, a hair and nail salon, and an
extensive fitness facility with Technogym equipment, including Kenesis, a
new resistance weight-training system.
• The golf course at Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Texas,
is closed for renovations until Oct. 1. The project involves the replacement
of the fairway grass and rebuilding of the greens. Other changes include
concrete cart paths on six holes and new sand for bunkers.
• The Country Club Course at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco,
Texas, is slated to reopen July 1 after renovations that included
restoration of the greens.

• Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, is offering
international memberships to anyone residing outside North America.
Individual and corporate memberships with full club privileges are

TIGER DEFENDS TITLE
Tiger Woods will defend his title at the $7.5 million World Golf
Championships-Bridgestone Invitational slated for Aug. 21-27 at Firestone
Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The Golf Channel will telecast the first
two rounds, with CBS Sports broadcasting the weekend rounds.

• Golf legend Arnold Palmer will serve as honorary chairman of the 2006
U.S. Kids Golf World Championship slated for July 26-30 at Pinehurst.
• Delta Air Lines, through its carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines, now
operates one round-trip flight six days a week from Hartsfield-Jackson
Atlanta International Airport to the Moore County Airport, located seven
miles from the resort.
•The 9th annual National Hickory Championship will be played at Pinehurst
July 28-30. Players will turn back time, dressing and playing golf as it was
done a century ago. Entry fees for the golf tournament begin at $543 and
include two-night accommodations, a practice round, two 18-hole tournament
rounds, a welcome reception, a tournament dinner, and an awards ceremony.
