LIFE.STYLE.NEW UNDER THE
SUN
While new automobiles debut in Detroit, it’s Fort Lauderdale where
major yacht builders choose to introduce the latest vessels.
For the adventurous set, the $20 million, 148-foot Marco Polo by Chinese builder
Cheoy Lee Shipyards is a transoceanic explorer yacht, with a fuel load that
allows it to run nearly 6,000 nautical miles before refueling. To accommodate
the intrepid traveler, the Marco Polo, which sailed from the French Riviera to
Fort Lauderdale, has large storage spaces able to accommodate Jet Skis, light
aircraft, sailing dinghies, fishing and diving equipment, and vehicles.
Trinity Yachts introduced two new vessels: the $34 million, 161-foot Lohengrin,
a sleek, curvaceous design with three king and twin staterooms oozing with
mahogany and marble; and the 164-foot Mine Games (price not available), an
aluminum tri-deck with a highly finished traditional interior with raised
paneling in American Cherry, Maple Burl, and Figured Bubinga.
Down the price list a bit is the new $11 million, 108-foot Viking Custom Yacht
by Italian builder San Lorenzo. The party-at-sea set will be drawn to this
yacht, which devotes more than half of its main deck for a social galley with a
large kitchen and dining/lounge area.
