Brooke Thrall

On the value of her longtime membership at Indian Wells Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif.

Why she joined:
"My parents were charter members at Indian Wells. I had seen by being their guest at a lot of club events that they always had so much fun and met so many different people - and I wanted to meet people and do the fun things they did."

Thanks for the memories
: "During the years Indian Wells had the Bob Hope Desert Classic, when I was in my 20s, I used to love to go out there. They would have jam sessions, and all of a sudden Frank Sinatra would sing a tune, Bob Hope would tell some jokes. There's a lot of great history and memories from growing up around it. It was just cool!"

Stay awhile:
"I dine at the club at least once a week, and I play golf three times a week. It's the kind of place where you play 18 holes and you're having a cocktail afterward and somebody says, ‘What are you doing for dinner,' and all of a sudden we're all having dinner."

Ladies first:
"After I joined, my mother convinced me to become the Indian Wells Women's Golf Association president. She said, ‘You're going to meet people and get to know them very well.' It was one of the best things I ever did. I got lots of relationships from it, advice from it, and support from it."

Building new relationships: "A lot of our new members at the club are younger people, and they've become our friends. They bring a different perspective and it's fun to watch how they interact."

Enriching lives: "I've been involved with our Charity Classic for years now. We're able to give back to our club staff by raising money for the Employee Partners Care Foundation. Many of the employees have had to use it, and when they tell their stories, it's very touching. We're able to make a difference in someone's life. You can't put a price or value on that."
