Skyline Club, Southfield, Mich.
Who he is: As president and CEO of Orchards Children's Services, he leads the charge to help about 7,000 children and family members in southeast Michigan through adoptions, foster care placements, and other programs each year.
Families first: "Over the last several years, we have really moved into family preservation, which means we're keeping families together." For instance, in cases where children might be removed from their homes for economic reasons, the agency helps parents find work and additional resources so they can pay their bills and keep the family intact.
Making an impact: In September, he traveled to Washington, D.C., where the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute honored Orchards' far-reaching work "on behalf of children in need of families" with an Angels in Adoption award.
What's in a name: "The name Orchards expresses our vision of growing something that's fruitful. We grow smiles and we grow hope."
