Who they are: Creators of Cooking for the Clueless, a DVD and website (cookingfortheclueless.com) that help beginner cooks gain culinary confidence. They took home Best DVD or Subscription Series at the 2010 Tasty Awards, which recognize the year's best food and fashion programs.

Back to basics: After marrying in 2007, the couple kept burning their pots and pans. "We thought, ‘We're smart people. Why can't we get this?'" Rick says. Frustrated by complex recipe books and fast-paced cooking shows, they solicited pro chefs' help, simplified meal-making, and launched how-to resources for their clueless comrades in 2009.

Fresh start: During the DVD's 18 segments, food experts serve up appetizing, manageable dishes alongside Zuzy and incorporate basic skill lessons, like how to whisk, sauté, and safely use knives.

To the disheartened: "Keep going, because cooking is healthier for you and your finances. Don't go at it alone. I ask all the clueless questions to make it easy," Zuzy says.
