Who he is: After his doctor told him his pint-a-day ice cream habit was leading him down the road toward type 2 diabetes, he created an all-natural, sugar-free concoction of his own, named Clemmy's Ice Cream. "I could not find a sugar-free ice cream product out there. They were all ‘no sugar added,' which does not mean sugar-free."

How he did it: His multi-hyphenate career had taken him into marketing, real estate, motion pictures, even local politics, but never food production. Even so, he bought a commercial ice cream maker and devoted 16-18 hours a day to the project for two months until he hit the perfect blend of flavor, creaminess, and no aftertaste.

The secret ingredient: Xylitol, a natural sweetener found in many fruits and vegetables.

What's your pleasure: Clemmy's seven flavors, plus novelties, are available in 3,000-plus stores in 30 states, with more coming by year-end.
