Dear Members and Guests,
Perhaps like with many of you, personal birthdays usually hold no special significance for me. The only ones that do get me have zeros in them. For my 50th, I went skydiving; not sure yet about 60, but it will be special and unusual.
2016 marks my 10th year as "Catalyst and CEO" of ClubCorp. It certainly has been special and, at times, unusual. Like my first visit to one of our business clubs, where, when I said we needed to have some casual space for Members who wear jeans, the GM told me, "Oh no, we can't do that, our Members don't wear jeans." Two years later, let alone 10, our club was thriving with its new casual space and the manager apologized.
During the last decade, we have proudly worked to "reinvent" the club industry; we have invested more than $500 million back into our clubs, completed the largest acquisition in our company's history, launched the wildly popular O.N.E. program, and so much more. My biggest joy - apart from watching my beautiful daughters grow up - has been seeing the progress of numerous Employee Partners in their dedication to "Building Relationships and Enriching Lives." I've said it a thousand times: Our clubs are an extension of our communities and the homes of countless special memories. While I cannot predict what the next decade will bring, I'm pretty sure our clubs will continue to provide Magic Moments for you and your guests, and I will continue to be truly blessed to be a part of it.
Please join me in welcoming these new clubs to the ClubCorp family: Bernardo Heights Country Club in San Diego and Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla. And, on a personal note, I'd like to announce the latest addition to my own family: my second granddaughter, Carolyn, born on Jan. 21.
Enjoy your spring and a great new season at your club with friends and family.
With a fond farewell,
President and CEO
